About myself...I like to wake up in the late morning, have some coffee w/honey and soymilk, and check my emails. I don't enjoy large crowds like 1 million plus fireworks displays and such. I prefer the back porch with some meat on the grill.
I've always loved music , even back in the day when photographs had that weird reddish yellow tinge, and my parents listened to Billy Joel records. They would go into their bedroom to have "Adult Time" , which meant time to smoke a doobie....And I would put on my favorites... Michael Jackson -Thriller and Eddie Murphy- Delirious.
Anyone that is my age and grew up in the age of cassette tapes ,Betamax , Purple Rain , and Aquanet , used to make their own mixtapes with a dual cassette deck or anything they could get their hands on. I started at the age of 8. I would leave the tape deck at a constant pause record state just in case one of my jams would play on the radio.
I had my own radio show as a sophmore in high school-92/93 , however I've been djing in clubs since 1997. I'm currently the hiphop buyer for Gramaphone Records, Chicago. We're one of the only places in the midwest that still sells predominantly wax!
I was named the first female Soul Selector, as well as the first female hiphop buyer at Gramaphone Records,(since DJ Heather ,that is). There are still more hurdles and challenges left for us ladies, and I'm comin' round to scoop them up.
Advice???Hmmmm...eat a sandwich, put some clothes on for goodness sake, & watch where you're going while talking on your cell phone and crossing the street.
